Send a whole folder
An archive of hundreds of photos, a project with subfolders, a backup… Sending them one by one is tiring, and zipping first costs time and disk space. With Peerxfer you pick the folder as it is and everything inside, subfolders included, goes in one transfer.
Step by step
- On the home page, click “Choose folder” or drag the folder into the box. You’ll see the folder name, the number of files and the total size.
- Click “Create share link” and send the link to the receiver (turn on “Require an extra password” first if you want one). If they’re on the same Wi-Fi you can also use nearby devices instead of a link.
- The receiver opens the link, taps “Connect to sender”, sees the folder name and size, and starts saving.
How does the receiver get the folder?
- On a computer: when you press “Download”, a save dialog opens and you can pick any place, Desktop included. When the transfer finishes, the folder is written there as a single ZIP file with all its subfolders.
- On a phone: when the transfer finishes, tap “Save as ZIP” and the ZIP lands in your Downloads folder. The ZIP is uncompressed, so it’s quick to prepare, and archives larger than 4 GB are supported.
Tips
- You don’t need to zip first. With tens of thousands of tiny files, a single archive can sometimes be faster.
- On a computer the ZIP is written during the transfer, so free space equal to the folder size is enough. On a phone the ZIP is built after the transfer and temporarily needs about twice the folder size in free space.
- To send several folders, pick them one after another or drag them all into the box together; each selection is added to the list. “Clear” empties the list. The receiver gets a single ZIP named in their own language (e.g. “Files 2026-10-31.zip”), with each folder inside under its own name.
- Some phones can’t pick folders. In that case select several files at once in the file picker; they all go together.
- Every file is verified, and if the connection drops the transfer continues where it left off.
